High
school choir appears in holiday video
October, 2010
Last June, members of the Canajoharie High School Choir took a short break from spring concerts, studying for exams and receiving athletic awards to do something extraordinary—to appear in a music video.
The choir traveled to the WMHT public television studios in Troy to record the background vocals for and to appear in country music artist Sarah Darling’s “Rejoice at Christmas” video. The CHS choir dressed in their formal black and white stand singing in the background throughout the performance.
The opportunity to record came after chorus teacher Megan Yonteff took the group to WMHT to be a part of Tim Janis’s “Celebrate America” project earlier in the year. Canajoharie joined dozens of other Capital District schools performing folk, traditional, and patriot tunes celebrating our nation. The Canajoharie students were then invited back for this unique honor.
Written by Andrew Wright and arranged by Tim Janis, “Rejoice at Christmas” reminds people to celebrate the joy of Christmas by reaching out to those less fortunate. An early release of the video can be viewed on YouTube.com. The actual music is available as a download from cdbaby.com and other music download sites. All proceeds go to charity.
