Canajoharie High School senior Genevieve Trahan has been named to the 2011 Scholars’ Recognition Program. She was included in a story published in a special supplement in the Albany Times Union newspaper in May.
The Scholars’ Recognition Program honors the outstanding scholastic achievement of member of the graduating classes of public, private and parochial schools in the Capital District area. Each high school selects these students to recognize their scholarship, leadership and service to their schools and communities. Each student is also asked to nominate a teacher who has influenced his or her life in a significant way.

In addition to playing the violin and French horn, Genevieve is a member of the Cross country, Track and Field and Nordic Ski teams. She is active in various organizations including International Club and spent her senior year as an exchange student in Switzerland. She keeps a small flock of sheep, spinning and knitting the wool. She says of her teacher Heather Rockwell: "Mrs. Rockwell encourages me to continue studying both French and Spanish. She also helped me achieve my dream of studying abroad, an incredible experience."
