District residents will vote on March 8 on a
proposal to lease three 66-passenger buses for a five-year term.
The buses would be paid for using the district’s bus replacement
fund—without any impact on the local property taxes. The vote would
continue the plan to lease rather than purchase buses.
Under the proposal, the district would lease three buses at an
annual cost not to exceed $18,000 each for a total of $54,000. The
lease would begin on July 1, 2011 and run through June 30, 2016.
“Leasing buses assures that we are putting the newest and safest
buses on the road. These buses also typically need less
maintenance,” said Superintendent Richard Rose.
The polls will be open from noon until 9 p.m. at the high school on
March 8.
