  • Third Annual Winter Weight Loss Challenge

Oh, those holiday cookies and pies and turkey and stuffing and...it's no wonder that the average person gains 3-5 pounds over the holidays! We are happy to report that 15 people signed up for the Canajoharie Fitness Center's Winter Weight Loss Challenge. Kim confidentially recorded weight and percentage of body fat for each participant. Then over the next 12 weeks, they are working out at their own paces. Periodically they check in with Kim to keep track of their progress. The person who loses the most body fat win the pool of money. Our biggest losers are going to be the biggest winners!

What a great way to burn off some of that Thanksgiving turkey! A record 66 people joined us on Saturday, November 29th for our 6th annual Turkey Trot.  Registrants paid a five-dollar entry fee and then walked, ran, or trotted a 1 1/2 mile course. Pete Rose came closest to predicting his finish time without going over and collected half of the $330 pot. We are happy to report that we donated the other half - $165 - to the Ayres Animal Shelter. After the trot, everyone enjoyed coffee, tea, bagels, and fruit. There were free T-shirts for the first 30 participants, giveaways and a raffle, too! Thanks to everyone for making this the biggest and best Turkey Trot ever! Be sure to mark it on your calendar for next year.

  • Body fat and blood pressure readings available to new members

Fitness is not simply a measurement of your weight! Kim is now offering body fat and blood pressure readings to all new members who sign up for one-, six- or 12-month memberships.
